The Handmaids Tale

The first two paragraphs with the book The Handmaids Adventure by Maggie Atwood possess great importance to the remaining portion of the book. That introduces the main character and the world that she used to live in. The two paragraphs happen to be written with many clues that suggest what time it played in and what it was like in those instances.

The first page of the book explains the specific situation that the girl with in and what she thinks from it. The narrator explains in great fine detail without using a large number of words what the gym that she is in looks like, what she aromas and what she believes of it, " the stinky scent of sweat, taken through with all the sweet taint of chewing gum and perfume. " That reminds her of dances that the lady remembers; your woman then provides a run through the actual gym has been through, " miniskirts after that pants in that case in one chaplet, spiky green streaked frizzy hair. " This is certainly walking through time in the 1950`s to the 1980`s. How this is referred to gives it a great eerie, ghostly feeling but nonetheless there is a feeling of finality and nostalgia. Then simply she continues to explain the dances that used to happen at the gym, like they you do not have them ever again, which gives this a sentimental feeling. The second paragraph starts off of having a sentence with juxtaposition; the lady explains what the room built her think of, old sexual and solitude. This is not a combination that one would expect; sex is mostly associated with interactions not loneliness. The narrator then tells us that she remembered that she would desire for anything but it would not be as good as she pictured it being, she is particularly talking about sex. The way the narrator calls the sex outdated sex provides whole sentence a feeling of acceptance that the community is less than excellent. Furthermore it provides it a second meaning; aged could also indicate a different purpose which may be fun instead of just for reproduction.
