Payoff. It is a one word that holds wonderful meaning for the ones who seek this, and for all those whose thoughts are the types to scholarhip it, whether it is an outside party, or a personal satisfaction that must be meant in the case of the hunter. For this project, the concept of redemption as a literary device and/or possible theme of the book, Hey Nostradamus! by Douglas Coupland should be explored and proved that it can be indeed a powerful aspect of the storyline. (Coupland, 2003)

The first crucial figure being looked at, and as the conceivable redeemer in the story, can be Reg. This kind of character is a epitome of what some people might loosely refer to as a " bible thumper” a devoutly religious guy whose rigidity an loss of sight cost him his along with all sense of companionship as he went them away with his perceived high presented with morals. (Coupland, 2003) We see many circumstances that would certainly not make him a favorite inside the eyes of any goodly area of the character types. In some of the first instances the readers will be introduced to Reg, in person as they say, is through the eyes of Jason, his son. Jason's first person point of view has the visitors see the man in all his glorious flaws as only children or family is able to see those short comings, certainly not that it was not a wrong impression.
