Studies have revealed a number of attributes of a college that shows to lead to student learning and larger achievement which includes strong leadership, clear and shared objective, vision, beliefs, and desired goals, collective inquiry, action oriented, collaborative groups that work interdependently, a focus in student learning and effects oriented. These kinds of ideas are showed within a Specialist Learning Community (PLC). Becoming a PLC, a staff must make within their actions and come together focusing on student learning. PLC's have evolved out of failed university reform actions. It attempts to make permanent changes to a school's culture to have an effect on change in student achievement. There are four primary ideas in developing a good foundation for any PLC. The four vital ideas add a shared mission, vision, principles, and desired goals. A group cannot simply set a well created mission, they must commit to next through with actions essential to fulfill their particular mission. These actions turn into easier each time a vision is done as to what the college should appear like and then people list certain behaviors that have to occur in order to become the imagined school.
