In the introduction, Kaiser accurately states his thesis and lays out his methodology. He succinctly states that " with this book, I would like to give God's people fresh insight into this kind of avenue of thinking and believing by simply reviewing ten outstanding Old Testament text messages that set forth the majesty of our Lord" (p. 9). He accomplishes this in a way as to offer a guide intended for preaching and teaching the OT. The methodology he follows throughout consists of (1) presenting an aspect of study that delineates the general benefit of the biblical text into consideration; (2) determining the topic/focal point from the text; (3) applying the " famous six interrogatives" to the passage; and (4) determining a homiletical key term that brings the sermon proposition. I realize that over the years, there have been a lot of books that have focused on the lives of certain Outdated Testament personas. These books were fundamentally written for two purposes: biographically to highlight the " heroesвЂќ of the OT, or almost to focus on command principles that could be gleaned off their examples. Yet , this approach towards the Old Testament is defective for one glaring reason.
